Description:
SedDB is a project to build an online data and information system that will serve as a research and education tool to maximize the application of geochemical data on marine sediments to a wide range of research topics, from the chemical evolution of the Earth’s crust and mantle to paleoclimate reconstruction.
SedDB will serve to the scientific community the global geochemical data set for marine sediment samples in a manner similar to the current information systems for igneous rock chemistry (http://www.earthchem.org). SedDB will feature an interactive and dynamic user interface and a data analysis tool set for data visualization and analysis that will assist researchers in many fields related to marine geochemistry. A special emphasis will be placed on interoperability of SedDB with other existing and emerging data and information systems (e.g. ODP/Janus, CHRONOS, PaleoStrat, MARGINS Data Management System) to help build a broader Geoscience Cyberinfrastructure in which data can be seamlessly shared and linked.
