Earth Institute Contact:

Locations: Brazil, Ecuador, Mexico

Description:
Wildlife Trust, together with an NGO in Ecuador called Futuro Latinoamericano, will confront important and unresolved natural resource conflicts in Ecuador, Mexico, and Brazil through a workshop (in November, 2002, to be held at IPE) and intensive follow-up with stakeholders over the course of a year. At the conclusion of the first year, 25 leaders will be trained in conflict management techniques for sustainable development and consensus-building. The goal of this project is to bring tools of conflict management to actors involved in real natural resource issues where several kinds of stakeholders hold different views.
